Discomfort and Reflection

Today was a happy-fun-friend day.  But today was not a physical-feel-good day.  Around 1pm today, I was feeling tired and shaky because I hadn't eaten yet (I usually eat at 12) so I made food and ate it and then I felt better.

At 2:30, I got in a hot, stuffy car to drive with my mom to an appointment (where she would find out if Ruby (my "half-a-sister") was still breech.  (She wasn't, by the way.  She's head-down now.  Yay!)  On the way there, I got a teeny bit carsick.  That combined with a hot, stuffy car didn't go too well.  When hot and stuffy combine with me, I get a headache and a stomach-ache.  Once I got out and into an air-conditioned building though, I was fine.

Then I got back in the car a half-hour later (silly me!) so then I was carsick and it was hot and stuffy again.  And then I just had to ask my mom a question about the birds and the bees and when she answered my stomach knotted up.  Of course it did.

By the time we got home, I had to use the restroom but I couldn't because then we had to drive somewhere else in the car and of course I still had that knotted-stomach feeling.  By that time I wasn't sure if I wanted to throw up or not.  My stomach just kept twisting around and around and my head hurt.

When I finally got home I just thought, "I have to have a break."  So I had one.  And now I feel way better.  But all those sensations in one day were just so new to me...  It was really weird.  I don't know why it was so significant - I've been uncomfortable before!  But I guess I just needed to think about it...

Some Additions

I've decided to add a couple more pages.  One is "My Family" and one is "My Friends."  One of my friends had those pages on their blog and I thought it was pretty cool so I decided to add them!  Since this blog is, you know, all about me and my life, I figured it would be a cool idea to add those pages so you can get a great glimpse of just a few of the most influential people in my life.

I love you all!

Too Much

Hey guys!  I don't know how many of you are still reading this since I haven't blogged in a while but I'm just gonna talk, okay?  First, here's what happened on Saturday (the 8th of this month):

The police were at my house because some person decided to throw a rock into our dining room window.  I was in my room about to get in bed and I heard some banging upstairs and The Puppy's loud voice (he's 14 and 6' 4").  I thought it was because he was angry or something so I sort of dismissed it.  But then my dad came down to my room really quickly, shouting my name and holding his pistol with him and told me to get down.  So I did, right where I was standing, and my dad came down about 30 seconds later and told me to stay down as we crawled up the stairs.  I found The Puppy and my mom and The Frog (he's 3) in my mom's room and my dad told me to get down right next to them.  We were hiding behind her bed to keep away from the windows.  I didn't know that at first.  My mom was on the phone with 911 and my dad got in a safe-ish place to watch for the rock-thrower person with his firearm (I didn't know what he was watching for at the time).  The Puppy was shaking a lot.  And when your brother who is four inches taller than you and does swordfighting for a sport is shaking, it makes you scared, too.  Nothing happened until the police got there and my dad went out to talk to them.  I finally got to ask what happened.  Apparently Caden was sitting near the front dining room window eating cereal and watching a video on his iPod and something crashed through the window, not five feet away from him.  He just booked it into my parents' room shouting, "I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay!"  Right when he did that is when my mom called 911 and my dad came downstairs to get me.  The rock went through the window screen and both panes, so it came through with force.  We stayed up 'til 1:40 and The Puppy and I slept in my parents' room.

Okay, now here's what happened today (I posted this on Facebook):

So I'm sitting at home by myself (working on one of the last drafts of my novel, if you want to know) and I hear the doorbell ring.  I check to see who it is and see a truck that I recognized as our repairman's vehicle, the guy who was coming to fix our window.  The kids in my family have been taught to never open the door for anyone but my parents or, like, the prophet.  So I don't open it.  Then the doorbell rings again along with a really loud knock.  I text my mom to let her know someone's here right as they knock again, really loudly.  At that point I'm a little weirded out - no one knocks three times in a row, much less that hard.  I'm in my mom's room so I get off the bed and sit on the floor to hide from the windows, still texting, and then I see him walk in!  I text faster, telling my mom that he had just come right in the house!  I hide in the bathroom, lock the door, and keep texting my mom, who says she's on her way.  She gets here and the guy is bringing in the new window and my mom stops him and says, "Hey, we didn't know you were coming and my daughter got scared and locked herself in the bathroom and texted me.  I almost called the police on my way here." He just says unapologetically, "Well, I knocked and saw that there were no cars here and thought that no one was home so I just found a door unlocked and came in.  I was told to come here for an appointment at this time so I have to get this window in or it'll have to wait until the end of next week."  My mom didn't know what to say to that so she just let him in to finish repairing the window.  She came inside and I came out of the bathroom when I heard her voice calling me.  She called my dad and the landlord with her door closed so that the guy couldn't hear her and told them what happened.  When she finished calling people she went out to find the guy and he had left without saying a word. My mom was like, "So he didn't even say anything, didn't check out with me, didn't say goodbye, or anything like that?" She asked The Turtle if he had seen the guy leave or if the guy had said anything to him and he said no.

Holy cow!  What is up with people?!  First we get our window smashed in and it scares us to death, then some window guy that we don't trust breaks into our house!  AHHH!  What's next?!  A shootout at the neighborhood park?!

My mom is so ticked right now!  She brought up the story of Elizabeth Smart, how she was home by herself and a hired repairman showed up in her room and told her that if she didn't go with him right then he would kill her.  She was missing for 9 months and the guy who kidnapped her did all sorts of crazy, horrid things to her which I will not relate in this post.  She was kidnapped right out of her ROOM.  And ooohhh man...  Really shaken right now...

Why do these things keep happening at our house?!

Mastering Knighthood Adult Volunteers

The words in blue are from Queen Emily of Mastering Knighthood Summit (she's really awesome, by the way).  We need adult volunteers pretty badly, so please consider signing up!

Amory

Dear Summit Friends,

We are in great need of volunteers to help staff and run this year’s Mastering Knighthood Summit. While we are getting close to filling up as far as registrations go, we are at about 20% when it comes to volunteers. Please take some time to look at the list of volunteer responsibilities and fill out a form. You can find the details about volunteering at www.masteringknighthood.com/volunteer

Without volunteers, we cannot hold Summit!

NOTE – For the first time this year we will be requiring all Final Battle Villains to fill out a Volunteer Registration form as well. Please pass this along to anyone you think would want to participate in the final battle.

If you have questions you can contact Lola May at may.lola@gmail.com or 801-949-3921.

Thank you!
